Hi, I'm Claude Cadi,
after working for different high-end framing shops, here in Berlin,
it started making sense to propose custom framing service.
I started learning framing because I couldn't afford letting my own work framed,
my goals are therefore to achieve certain quality standards
while keeping affordable prices.
Working in a relatively small studio,
frames can't be much larger than 70x100 cm,
I mostly stock L-shape oak and alder profiles,
and would need extra time to source other wood or profile.
All materials in contact with artworks are acid free.
Depending on your budget,
you can choose museum glass and float glass,
museum glass, avoid much reflections, renders colors more accurately and
partially protect artworks from UV
As an alternative to wood,
I also propose frames build out of painted acid free cardboard.
This light weight material is sturdy enough for works on paper
In this case, I don't use glass to keep weight and price low
Cardboard allow for different profile shapes
Artwork can be mounted:
FLUSH: size to size with the frame, with some distance to the glass.
FLOAT: on a museumboard with distances to the frame and distance to the glass.
PASSEPARTOUT: the artwork being bigger or smaller than the passepartout window.
here are some examples of frames I made
over the last years.
